When I began “Everything I Ever Did,” I carried more of a feeling than a plan — a sense of intent rather than a blueprint. I filled notebooks with recollections, rifling through old photographs and journals to trace the path from then to here, searching for the moments that mattered and those that quietly shaped me.

Over the next three years, I stitched individual tabs from these fragments, collecting them in a large box once home to Warhol Banana bookends. That box became more than a container — it was a companion I carried with me everywhere, growing heavier with time, memory and labour, until it finally gave way under the weight. When it did, I felt a surprising sense of loss.

Slowly, the collection grew to more than 300 pieces. As the quilt began to take shape, I felt compelled to document each fragment on its own terms. Before assembling them permanently, I photographed each piece individually, allowing them to hold their own presence within the whole.

In 2022, “Everything I Ever Did” made its debut in New York. This project was realised in collaboration with my dear friend James Mathers, whose drawings and interpretations helped shape the individual works on paper that accompany the quilt. The photographic series is available as limited-edition prints, giving each memory a life beyond the fabric of the quilt.
